It has daily bus services to and from Rethymnon and Agia Galini.
Spili (400m above sea level) offers the most welcome cool evenings during the summer and on a nearby plateau about 15 minutes’ drive away a spectacular display of wild flowers (anemones, tulips and delicate orchids). The area surrounding the village is a hikers dream with many beautiful walks.
