Hidden among the picturesque village of Chromonastiri in the alleys at the centre of the village, you can find this original stone house from the Venetian period of Crete. A remnant of a time long past, it is carefully preserved and renovated entirely.

As you enter from the main entrance, an old wooden door, there is a large hall that can also serve as an extra dining room. In the same area is an old well covered with glass and lighted that still working!

Walking inside the main house you find the old stone build staircase leading you to the upper rooms, a bathroom and the kitchen. A second staircase from stone and wood can also lead you at the first floor from the kitchen.

Upstairs the property consists of a large living room with a fireplace, a small bedroom and a very large bedroom with magnificent high ceilings and windows facing the small streets of the village.

Another wooden staircase from the living room leads you at the roof terrace of the property where you can enjoy views of the village and the surrounding country side.

LOCATION

Chromonastiri is a traditional village about 360 meters above sea level, at the foot of Mount Vrysinas. The village has preserved numerous buildings with Venetian architecture which led to its characterization as a “preserved and traditional settlement of medium cultural value”.

The most popular monumental building is Villa Clodio, located east of the village, which was used as a holiday home by the Venetian Clodio family. During the Turkish occupation, the palace was the house of the Turkish Aga, known as “konaki” (house in Turkish). Today the Military Museum has been restored and is housed.

In the center of the village there is a traditional tavern, cafe and a grocery store.
